Happy New Year, everyone! Every time a new year rolls around I’m baffled at how the time goes by so quickly. Thank goodness we have scrapbooking and social media to help us organize and document it all.
Speaking of documenting, I wanted to share what my family and I did to help document 2018. Last year, on New Year’s Eve, my family and I answered some questions like:
What are your goals for the year? What do you hope to do different this year? What was your best memory of the last year?
Those are just a few examples, there ended up being 10 questions total. Then, throughout the year we wrote notes when something good happened, like my husband and I getting our BJJ blue belts or Drew being nominated for 7th grade Prince at his first semi-formal dance or Jackson being selected for his school’s math team. We kept these notes and our answered questions in a large vase and then last night we took them out and read them as a family. It was so much fun and I’m so glad we did it. It was an absolute delight to reflect back on the year and reminisce together. My kids enjoyed it so much that they added even more questions for us to answer for this year.

My layout for the word of the month represents one of the scariest, challenging, and most rewarding adventures of my life: motherhood.
Our first-born, Drew, has always been a little bit of a challenge. He’s animated, loud, outgoing, goofy, loves being the center of attention, and thrives in his own little world of Drew-chaos. I had this set of pictures from a random photo shoot we did one lazy afternoon. (Seriously lazy. He doesn’t even have pants on in any of these pictures.)
What I loved most about these photos is how they capture so much of his personality. They seemed like the perfect representation of the adventure he is and the adventure he has brought to our lives as parents.
If you want to participate, create a layout using the word of the month, and then post it in the comments of this post.
I can’t wait to see how you all use the Word of the Month!
