Scrapbook Design Idea | Creating a Scene on a Large Shape

Writer: AllisonAllison

I always love going a little theme extreme and one way I really enjoy doing that is by creating a scene on my layout. It's just a fun and playful way to create!

Supplies used - Patterned papers and die cuts: LDRS Creative; Glitter paper: DCWV; Nuvo Drops: Tonic Studios; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic

When I started this layout I had planned on creating a square background with tilted fringe strips, but as I started thinking about my journaling and the story behind the photo it felt fitting to go with a heart instead.

At that point I had already completed the square with fringe strips so I used a large heart as a template, drew it on the back, and very carefully cut it into the heart shape.

LDRS Creative had this awesome package of die cut flowers and I loved that they were big enough that I could add some stitched designs on them. For some of the flowers I followed the design already on them, but for others I made my own little accent designs.

For the rest of the layout I wanted it to kind of look like yard or field full of flowers so I tucked the flowers into the fringe layers all over the heart. For dimension, I couldn't adhere the whole flower with foam adhesive since they are tucked into the grass layers so I added one piece of foam adhesive at the top and then used my regular tape runner adhesive for the bottom part that is tucked into the fringe.

To finish the layout I added some Nuvo Drops to the the center of the flowers and some butterflies all around the design.
