Scrapbook Design Idea | Stitching & Watercolor

Writer: AllisonAllison

This layout is one that I stitched while we were road tripping through Colorado and after I got home I decided to experiment. It was risky to do so, but I loved the end result!

For the stitching I used a chain link stitch for the large splash and then used a back stitch for every thing else. I thought the change is stitching style would add some interest. Both stitches have a completely different texture and look.

The risky part was adding the watercolor inside the stitching details AFTER I had already stitched.

I used a watercolor brush with light blue watercolor and would gently paint a small section and immediately blot it with a paper towel so it didn't soak too heavily into the paper or the stitched detail.

I took my time and made sure I didn't have too much paint on my brush each time I added the watercolor to the paper. I was so scared that it was going to warp the paper and the stitched design, but like I said, I was super careful and it all turned out just fine!

To finish the layout I added some cardstock and patterned paper droplets, some watercolor splatter, and some Nuvo Drop droplets.
