I will always, and I mean ALWAYS, love sunburst designs. There are about a million and one ways to adapt them. You can change up the shape of the overall design or you can change up the style, length, angle, width, or even shape of the sunburst pieces.

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts and Simple Stories; Patterned paper: PhotoPlay and die cuts (I think); Heart punches: Recollections; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic.
For this sunburst design I used my Silhouette to cut out the sunburst strips and circle in the middle. Then I adhered the patterned paper on top of the cardstock pieces.

I you don't have a die cutting matching, you can easily replicate this design by...
Use a big bowl as a template for the whole circle and trace it onto a piece of cardstock.
Find the center of the circle and make a pencil mark. This is going to be your center meeting point for the strips.
Use a ruler and pencil to make marks around the outside edge of the circle. Keep in mind that you will need two marks per strip.
Use a ruler and pencil to draw a line from each mark on the outside edge to that center meeting point.
Cut along those lines to create the individual strips.
Adhere the patterned papers you wan to use to each strip.
It might be helpful to trace the big bowl you used for your circle onto your layout base to serve as a guide for the placements of your strips. You can also add a pencil mark in the center as the meeting point guide.
If you don't want the spacing between each strip, adhere the strips so that the top edge lines up with the circle that you traced onto your layout base.
If you do want the spacing between each strips, adhere you strips so that the top edge goes past the circle that you traced onto your layout base. How far past the circle line you go depends on how much spacing you want between the strips.
The last thing you need to add is the circle to the center.

To add some extra detail to my sunburst design I added some yellow stitching, some yellow punched hearts on the sunburst, some yellow watercolor splatters around the edges, and I finished with some tiny yellow hearts around the edges with the watercolor. I really wanted go with that sunshine theme!

If you haven't tried creating a sunburst design yet, I highly recommend you do! They are so fun!
