I admit, I so very often get caught up in creating detailed backgrounds made up of strips or squares or other shapes that I forget that you can do remarkable things with a single sheet of patterned paper.
For this layout I used a sheet of star patterned paper from the Pretty Little Studio as my main background. I cut a wavy edge along the bottom and adhered it do my white cardstock base.
Then I added a large cluster of stars along that wavy edge. Most of them are die cuts and a few (the small ones) are cut from the scrap piece of star patterned paper.
I arranged the stars in a rainbow pattern and added some hand-stitching to some of them. That stitching always does a great job of highlighting the shape while adding lots of texture and dimension.
I also used lots of foam adhesive to the stars so that the design literally stands out.
My final detail was cutting out more of the small stars and adhering them with foam adhesive on the star background paper. I love how it added some dimension and texture to the background!
