Once a month learn how to use scrapbook sketches and adapt them to fit different styles, photo sizes, and themes. Sketches = endless scrapbooking ideas with little effort. Sketches do all the heavy lifting allowing you to have all the fun!
The first Sketch Support of 2025 starts today! That means a new free sketch, three new layouts based on the sketch, a YouTube video, and of course the bonus sketch examples!
This new sketch is a fun one! It features lots of detail and lots of opportunity to customize it to different themes and shapes.
Here is the one-page sketch that I'll be using this week:

You can also grab the Sketch Support #40 Bonus Sketch Examples!

This month it is a 3-page PDF of 23 different sketch options. That makes 24 sketches for this month of Sketch Support. There are options that show how to change up the papers, use more photos, use less photos, there are four two-page options, and then an 8-1/2 x 11" option. The fun part is that you could use each option as a layout on its own, but you could also mix and match different options for endless possibilities!

Supplies used - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper, die duts, chipboard, and stickers: Hip Kit Club; Snowflake punch: unknown; Nuvo Drops: Tonic Studios; Embroidery floss: DMC; Computer font: Century Gothic
For my first layout I stayed pretty close to the sketch with a few small changes.
Variation #1 - Adapting the design to a theme.
I really loved the idea of incorporating some themed shapes into this sketch design and snowflakes were the perfect fit! Since they are a similar shape to circles I didn't really have to change anything to make it work. I swapped out a few circles for snowflakes while also using snowflakes in place of the hearts.

Just think of the different themed circles that could work with this sketch:
• Christmas ornaments
• Sports balls - basketball, softball, tennis, soccer, etc.
• Beach balls
• Confetti
• Flowers
• Planets
• Pizza
And there are several fun products that can work for the tiny accent circles on the sketch:
• sequins
• Nuvo Drops
• enamel dots
• buttons
• brads

Variation #2 - Changing the photo sizes.
I still used three photos, but the size was changed to work with what I had on hand. I used three 2-1/2 x 2-1/2" photos instead of the 2 x 3" photos. This was an easy adaptation and didn't result any having to make big changes.

I almost always adapt the sketch to work with the photos I have on hand. To me, that is so much easier than trying to find the perfect sketch with the perfect amount and size of photos. It's more of a go-with-the-flow approach.

That's all for today! Be sure to check back tomorrow to see another layout based on this sketch.
