Throwback Thursday: CK Hall of Fame

How about a little Throwback Thursday, scrapbook style?

This layout in particular definitely gave me some feelings of nostalgia. This was one of ten layouts that jump-started my partnership with Creating Keepsakes magazine.

I’ll never forget that “Welcome to the CK Hall of Fame” phone call. I was sitting in my driveway getting ready to drive to our store, Scrapbook Generation. My phone rang and a little tinge of nerves bubbled up when I saw the Utah area code. If you were waiting for the HOF calls, you knew what area code to look for. I don’t remember much about the call itself, I just remember it being one of the best moments of my life. The drive to SG was filled with the song, “The Sweet Escape” by Gwen Stefani and toddler-Drew and I “woohoo-ed” the whole way there.

It’s so funny to go back and look at old layouts. So many things have changed over the years. Products have evolved, trends have come and gone, and our styles slowly develop as we get more involved in the hobby. I admit, a lot of my old layouts make me cringe when I look at them, but eventually the stories and pictures capture my focus and I kind of, sort of don’t care so much about the trends and such.

Kind of.

Sometimes though it’s hard to look at these older layouts and resist the urge to “fix” them. I’m dying to add some stitching, a little foam adhesive, some embellishments, a softer ink on the edges of the paper…

What are some trends from your older layouts that make you cringe?

What current trends do you think we will cringe or laugh about years from now?

I remember this layout from that issue! still looks good today... and that must be part of why you made it into the HOF
